Yeah there's a few known issues with platforms. Unfortunately the code for them was never properly adapted to the integrated server change in MC 1.3, and so the code is a giant pile of bandaids on top of the old code from pre-1.3. Really the whole thing needs a rewrite, as it'd be far too difficult...
