Re: Grinding netherrack doesn't actually infect animals (and maybe never did?)

I ran into this recently too, it was weird. We got one squid turning into a ghast, so that worked. But then somehow after that whenever I tested it, it never seemed to work again. Although I tested it in Creative Mode, does that have something to do with it? I had tons of spawned animals all around ...

Re: Are melons OP?

Carved pumpkins don't only float, they also do not burn! They are being abused heavily (in my opinion) in my group right now, lol. We're sitting on so many from all the easy pumpkin farming, we're building all our markers out of them, we build bridges from them, we use them during caving in various ...

Re: Are melons OP?

I hope resurrecting this thread is okay. Is there an update on the state of this? Would more people working on the code for this help, maybe? Or is this stuck in the design phase? Will pumpkins also be considered? They kind of ruined the food progression for my playing group because there isn't real...

Third-Person Camera: Fine or not?

This is kind of going in the same direction as this recent discussion: https://www.sargunster.com/btwforum/viewtopic.php?t=10237 Is the third-person camera that you can currently switch to in the game too "gamey"/"cheaty"? It allows you all kinds of "wallhack" behavior....

Re: Removal of incredibly easy-access to cheats

Thanks for the clarifications on Return To Home! So I guess we have some notes, mostly inside of code comments, and the rest is sadly lost within FC's head since he's gone. I didn't know that he actually already implemented a percentage of what he wanted to do for RTH in BTW itself. So that's the ne...

Re: Removal of incredibly easy-access to cheats

On the matter of Return To Home, do we have any idea what happened to that plan? Did FC have to abandon it due to health/time reasons? Is he potentially still working on it, or did he abandon it together with BTW as a whole? Or did he never say anything about it? I only vaguely remember him mentioni...

Re: Tree Decay & Deeper Oceans

Oooooh okay, that's where the 16 states come from, it's just 4 bit in total. :D Yeah okay nevermind then about UUIDs and the like. Cutting down parts of neighboring trees sometimes is fine, I guess. And it would only ever potentially happen if the trees are the same wood type, since we can check for...

Re: Tree Decay & Deeper Oceans

Thanks for the elaboration, Dawnraider! Just 4 bits per state, huh? Yeah okay that's not much. So orientation and the like need multiple states already. And then log types are also state right now. I also didn't know they're multiplied like that. As for the UUID, I was thinking it could be added to ...

Re: Tree Decay & Deeper Oceans

Hmm, yeah, that's an even more difficult situation than I thought, then. I somehow thought all blocks know whether they've been naturally generated or placed by a player, but it's actually just leaves. So we would definitely need to look at the leaves too, and be really careful. Imagine you build ne...

Re: Tree Decay & Deeper Oceans

Could the tree cutting stuff be done by an add-on, in theory? Right now afaik the game doesn't really keep track of what a "tree" is, at least after terrain generation is finished, does it? There's just individual log blocks. You can look at the neighboring space for (naturally generated) ...

Re: Better Terrain Addon v3.2.0 (BTW CE 2.0.2+)

I've experienced the same kind of crash (same message about the spawn biome) that Soupy Delicious has posted. I had all biomes enabled though, apart from the Deco ones (due to missing Deco) and "Great Old Woodland" (due to the tree grower NullPointer crash associated with that biome). We m...

Re: New Release! (BTW CE 2.0)

Thanks for the continued work, and the bugfixing. :)
Also, now I finally understand how fishing works!
Interesting to know that the size of the body of water just determines whether you can fish at all, or not, and all the rest is up to daytime and weather and so on.

Re: Are slimes supposed to move this fast?

Okay, thanks for clearing this up! I definitely learned my lesson about slimes, lol. About the invincibility, it might just have been server lag, then. I don't know why it felt like I got hit several times right after one another. Probably also because the small slimes don't knock you back, I believ...

Re: New Release! (BTW CE 2.0)

When playing recently we found a bunch of animals in the world that were apparently starving despite being surrounded by grass. Sometimes they were also playing the eating animation, but just over and over again without actually ever eating the grass. A buddy of mine apparently also lost the chicken...

Re: Tree Decay & Deeper Oceans

I absolutely second the wish for "tree decay". Maybe I'll even try to make an add-on for this myself. While playing with Better Biomes, I constantly found myself aesthetically enjoying all the huge trees it features, but absolutely hating to actually interact with them. Cutting tall nested...

Re: Better Terrain Addon v3.2.0 (BTW CE 2.0.2+)

I've played with BTA and Better Biomes on a server for a while now, with two other people. No Deco, all biomes enabled (except for "Great Old Woodland", because it crashes the game right now, I haven't gotten around to making an issue on the GitHub repo yet, but the quick version is that a...

Are slimes supposed to move this fast?

I encountered a slime twice in the early game, both times this led to my death. It turned out I can't outrun them because they seem to move incredibly fast, much faster than me. No matter their size, too. So my only choice whenever one aggroed me seemed to fight them (couldn't really use the terrain...

Re: Issues playing with mods on MultiMC (Fabric)

OP might have used the ready-made MultiMC instance that is linked in the installation guide ( https://www.sargunster.com/btwforum/viewtopic.php?t=10201 )? The BTW version in that is still 2.0.1, and no updated instance containing the latest version has been published there (the link would also need ...

Re: Better Terrain Addon v3.2.0 (BTW CE 2.0.2+)

Thank you! I should have just tried to look at the NBT data before asking. I did that now, and got the generator string from there. I now seem to get the same world on the server, so that seems to work well. :) And good to know that copying over a world also works! I'd have another question: Does en...

Re: Better Terrain Addon v3.2.0 (BTW CE 2.0.2+)

Thanks for making this Add-On! I just started trying it out (mostly default settings), and I especially like the wider rivers and the cooler mountains. Changed the format of the world configuration info to use json. Old worlds will still be processed correctly. Is this format already documented some...
