Re: A weird missing file on my computer (Ghost File?)

Dial-up in 2013? Wow. Recent surveys in my country revealed that about 1 person in 10,000 still was on dial-up. I feel for you :( If you listen to the recent news in the US, there are "studies" by "professionals" stating that around 30% are still using dial-up (FOX news reported...

Re: A weird missing file on my computer (Ghost File?)

If you feel that above process is a little too long, and prefer to use command line to perform above process, then open an elevated command prompt as administrator, and issues the following commands: For Files: takeown /f file_name /d y icacls file_name /grant administrators:F I got a different res...

Re: A weird missing file on my computer (Ghost File?)

I know this seems like a stupid question, but where would I take ownership of it? As in, would I use the command console, properties, or some form of anything like that? Sorry for being dumb at this stuff, guys. I try :P Trust me, it is not a stupid question. I volunteer at my old high school as an...

Re: A weird missing file on my computer (Ghost File?)

I remember having a similar problem, except the directory in my instance was .\wine_drive_c:\ (I was backing up a friend's linux computer with scp, and it locked me out of the folder because Windows couldn't find a hard drive to that name). The solution that I used was to boot into linux (use a live...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Soooooo... Dinnerbone is working on some sort of streaming in-game thing. Thoughts? I personally think its pretty unneccecary, but that might just be me... I think it was announced during Minecon, as a way to sorta "unify" the community and streamers. Honestly, I think that while largely ...

Re: Brutal Doom

I have been playing the Brutal Doom mod for quite some time, and it is a blast. Considering I have been playing the series since I was about 4 (by brothers never really cared, so long as I didn't touch their saves), it is perfect for both as a nostalgia trip and a callback for newer groups. Quick qu...

Re: Breaking into sustainable food - chowder

It seems that the requirements is now Cooked fish instead of raw fish. EDIT: To clarify, I tested it in 4.87, then tested in the newest release. Some time in between, the recipe was changed (I cannot check to changelog at this time due to me having shoddy internet on a ferry, but I will respond when...

Re: Marking a Map

Aren't the maps stored as image files? I believe you can somehow open them up in paint, draw stuff on them and save. If I recall, you cannot edit it outright (I have tried before, and to no avail). There is, however, a tool that is out there that allows you to change the map files. I think it is ca...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89999999)

Thnaks man. You're right in that I just realized when you said that, that I haven't received much feedback on it yet :) Let's fix that: Considering the fact that I tend to die in the nether (stupid ghasts), The changes to the weather gives me a clear indication as to whether or not I should hunt (e...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89999999)

Considering how frequent the bolts occur on my current world during a storm (think about the Blitzkrieg bombing tactic, while on the British isles), I am going to be very frightened inside my underground base with this update.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

I think the witches spawning everywhere is another atempt of making the game harder, which is mostly an annoyance as most of Dbs changes. It looks like it is about +/-1 week from Halloween, rather than constantly. However: Rewrote the sound system If they fixed the overlapping sound problem, that w...

I got what you were implying, but it didn't fully click until after I posted. Unfortunately, Dolphin Mobile Browser does not like some of the BB buttons (one of them being the Delete post button).

I wouldn't call it a "praise thread" per se, just how us dealing with animal killing mobs has changed our play style.

Re: The oddest gameplay habit has formed for me...

I have found that digging a pit, dropping animals in, and covering it back up works excellently as a honeypot, thanks to all mobs going after animals, regardless of line of sight. Granted, it is slightly cheaty, but when you are on day 1 (or just died), time is everything, and I usually find remnant...

Re: A Quick Thanks...

I concur completely, though for me, it has been a tad longer than a few months (try beta MC). Honestly, the more recent Hardcore changes have finally taken me out of the lurking phase, and bring me out into the community. One thing I will say, I have probably clocked more hours into BTW than any oth...
