Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

Should BTW pursue a development style that is geared towards only modifying vM in such a way as to remain predominantly accessible by a vanilla player stepping into the mod fresh? Or should BTW be willing to break wholly away from the development path of Mojang (though not necessarily the feel and ...

Re: New Release! (Version 2.81)

Hmm, would it be overly difficult to have the bellows blow items infront of it, or would that conflict with the fire code?

I'm not asking because I want to trap a chicken in an infinite loop of air shafts or anything, not at all.

Re: BTW Community Castle

Yeah, bad wording on my part - Was a "barely awake" musing more than "I SHALL DO THIS!". Read it as "Should I.." rather than "I shall". Guess that answers that, though.

Re: New Release! (Version 2.81)

Right, well obviously we can expect wheeled transport, so minecarts. Crying means salt water, like what you'd have in an ocean. Lapdance is tough, but wolves, like all dogs, can "lap" as an adjective, and dancing can refer to any repetitive motion, especially in animal terms. Redneck could...

Re: New Release! (Version 2.81)

Based on that video;

BTW Version 2.82:

- Change recipe for glue, now require 6 bones.
- Added smaller windmill, but has provides less power.
- BTW will now murder you and your family when loaded.
- Companion Cubes now poop as well.

Re: BTW Community Castle

@Haniale: If you were using mo' Creatures, a fish could have died and left a fish egg or something lying around, which would explain the errors. Unknown blocks are removed, but unknown items aren't, and so they can cause a crash if you get close to them. I don't know for sure if this is what happen...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

Giving this thread a little bump as I'm interested in hearing what you guys have to say about the 2.8 release and how it affects people's impressions of the direction the mod is going in ;) So as a question, "What does the 2.8 update suggest for the progression timeline?" Well, bellows ar...

Re: BTW Community Castle

Wrong save? I used the latest dl link in the thread, like the OP says. I do hope it wasn't me.. I was very careful to only pull out blocks from TMI that I knew were in BTW or default. Only thing I can think off is Mo' Creatures, but that should replace them with other creatures if it's not installed...

Hibachi bad, netherack good for me too. I think I found the use for the shaft, but I can't be sure: Apparently it duplicates horses! http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/6126/20110717235600.png I'm so glad it didn't duplicate Rarity to the left there: Two of those would be a nightmare. Re: New Release! (BTW 2.80)

There's a mod called RecipeBook , that might help you Dur. Seems to be automatic. Kind of randomly ordered but easy enough. That said, I'm pretty sure this is a teaser release, with none of the items having any real function at the moment that I can see. All I've been able to do is hook a bellow up ...

Re: The BTW Skyscraper

May I suggest an inventory editor as this is simply a build for building's sake project? I find it rather strange to extend the work you must do when your goal is for aesthetic purposes only by fighting monsters and traveling to the nether. This isn't for aesthetic purposes. A big cobblestone tower...

Re: BTW Community Castle

Loops a good idea. For now, new comers on the bottom, but once it settles and we only get new blood rarely, maybe toss them in as an automatic next? Get the new stuff in as soon as possible, and the rest of the list have been there a while, so it's not like they're missing out for too long. Oh, and ...

Re: HavokSCOUT's creativity corner

Lava transport system. It can be only a proof of concept, but it must travel with the typical issues one finds underground(caverns, darkness, water), and over large distances, back to a home base/drop off point. By with I mean, you can't just fill hole up water, light the place with torches and make...

Is that what you see in MC, or more general definitions. If it is the later, I don't agree in some cases. General defs, with generous allowance for game world physics, and more importantly, fun. More the "Typical" idea that comes to mind, than the detailed one. You're right about birds, g...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

Since we seem to be shifting into flight as a heavy consideration, some definitions might be useful, so we can categorise different types of flight: Falling: Start at top, end at bottom. Rate of descent variable. Parachute, bungie cord, etc. Very little control over direction. Flung: Launched from a...

I don't think it's so much you've taken away something(with the timers) so much as you've highlighted a lacking in the base method. You can still do the giant house of switches, but end of the day, 99% of people who made those couldn't care less about the giant logic, they just want a damn clock. Sa...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

But as far as new forms of transportation, a Balloon or Airship might be a good next step, in order to speed exploration and to exploit the new Skylands and Ravines. I'm not sure what form it might take, but flight seems to be a good next step. Maps as they exist in game give a general overview of ...

What should we transport? ALL THE THINGS! Things that are us, things that are not us, things that we use, things that we've used, things we keep, things we murder while they sleep. Transport thus far seems to be chiefly non-controlled - I'd like to see controlled conveying, be it manned vehicles, ta...

Because the minecart track bit looks a little fast. :/
Well, it looks like you require mech power based on the video - you could set it, then run power to an axel and kill it, no?

Smite me if I'm wrong, but did that last clip show a huge stack of things, all turning by the grace of a single turntable? Pleaseohpleaseyes. Looks that way - I couldn't see other turn tables up the column, and wouldn't make sense in a trailer if it didn't. Though this leaves me with two questions:...

Re: Open Design Discussion: Turntable

If you're considering editing timing of the turntable via a tile entity, I'd suggest allowing for a fairly wide range of values, unlike just four like the redstone repeater has. Not really, as the blocks have a very small data limit - 4 bits I think I heard. Rotation has to be stored, so loose two ...

Re: Automatic Reed Farm Help

I use a similar method - but with two lines of water between. I get loss from the odd ones which fling over the water and land on the bottom dirt on the other side. It's not exactly space friendly, but a dividing collection wall between the rows would stop the overfling, but this makes a 3 size gap ...
