Re: Ultra compact flip flop with BD

One thing to note, you can also make this into a sort of extended counter if you place multiple types of solid block in with the glass block, then invert the output.

Re: Creepig's Ice Farm (V2.0)

This was precisely my reasoning. TMI feels like cheating, but unorthodox use of the game mechanics is just cleverness. It's not breaking the rules if the rules didn't anticipate my idea, IMNSHO. Breaking the rules in terms of the game itself, no. However, in terms of helping out with a mod that is ...

Re: Planter Box

I dunno about this. The whole point of the Nether is to be a hostile environment. If you can build a nice little garden in it, it kinda takes away from that feel.

Planters could work in general, though. I'd just say it should't work in the nether.

Re: Buffer Pad, Metal Detector, Rainproof Sails

Redstone isn't electricity. Trying to make it do all the things that electricity does in the real world is fairly pointless.

Re: Power: infinite or finite supply?

There's plenty of places to go after them man, and plenty of room for expansion. We're just not thinking in the same directions. Interesting... Well, just remember that this is a possibility, and it doesn't need to be this huge over-complicated memory hog system that remembers values for each and e...

Re: Power: infinite or finite supply?

The main reason I thought it would be a good idea to have finite power, is to add more room for expansion of the mechanical system in the future. As it is now, there's really nowhere to go after the waterwheel, or windmill if you're so inclined (or in the nether). If power was limited, it would mean...

Re: Power: infinite or finite supply?

I remember making a post about this in the old suggestions thread, and of course it got lost. Basically, though, shouldn't it be possible to rig up a system of limited power using only one tileEntity? Specifically, the one that's already being used to render the waterwheel/windmill. Have it keep tra...

Re: Use for clay - molds for advanced tools / equipment

You'd have to add three items for every single new item made of that metal you wanted to produce: An unfired version of it's mold, a fired version, and a filled-with-metal version. What about the windmill? Hemp Fibers (I know they have other uses too) Fabric Sail gearbox & axels to get it work ...

Re: Cobblestone Generator/harvester

Kinda sad to see this functionality go, especially if it's the former. I just finished building a fully-automatic cauldron that empties itself periodically, moving the finished items into a nearby bin. Yup, I already thought of that, and I wouldn't want to lose that functionality either. I just cha...

Re: Cobblestone Generator/harvester

Just wanted to let you guys know that this design is the result of an exploit that I intend to fix. The BD is not intended to be able to destroy blocks and dispense them in item form. I fixed another problem with this awhile back, but it looks like you managed to find a workaround. Anyways, just to...

Re: Use for clay - molds for advanced tools / equipment

I don't think this is really feasible. You'd have to add three items for every single new item made of that metal you wanted to produce: An unfired version of it's mold, a fired version, and a filled-with-metal version. Especially if these are going to be placeable blocks, that would take up a ton o...

Picking up blocks with the pulley.

I made this suggestion in the mega-thread, but I think it got lost in the huge amount of suggestions in there. Right now, when an anchor starts moving because of a pulley, if the block directly below it is a platform, it'll move that platform along with it. My suggestion is that in addition to this ...

For a non 50-50 chance, just have the processed items flow down a stream, which has two hoppers under different parts of it. The first hopper has a piston that sometimes extends over it, causing the items to flow past to the second piston. Then, to control the percentages, simply have the piston be ...

Re: Block Dispenser/TNT Excavation

As it turns out, you only need to power the block next to the TNT, so if you just send the wiring for the block dispensers directly over them (as in, redstone placed on top of them) then it'll power the TNT the instant it comes out. (Safest way is probably just to have the dispensers face straight ...

Re: Unofficial Suggestions List

Hm, you know, it'd be pretty slick if we could get bellows to push around items. Not very far, but if it pushed, say, all items in a 3x3 area in front of them forwards by even half a block's distance, that would help a bunch with things like automated farms, since it would let you push harvested cro...

Bellows detached from mechanical power stays depressed

Was just playing around with a bellows, and noticed that when I destroyed the axle that was powering my bellows, the bellows stayed in it's "flattened" state instead of puffing back up again. I assume this is just a problem of the block not updating correctly, because if I then place anoth...

Rotating torches destroy windmills

I haven't tested this with anything else yet, but if you have a turntable turn a block of dirt directly adjacent to a windmill with a redstone torch on it, then when the torch is rotated into the area that the windmill occupies, the windmill is destroyed instead of the redstone torch. I'm assuming t...

Re: Unofficial Suggestions List

I've been thinking about the whole finite mechanical power problem some more, and I had an idea: What if, instead of having each and every single axle and gearbox remember how much power it currently has, we instead have the power source (waterwheel/windmill/whatever) do all the calculations itself?...

Re: Unofficial Suggestions List

Now that's an interesting idea. Might be a bit difficult to implement, though, so I would suggest instead a "open bottom" minecart, which when the block below the tracks it's on is a hopper, then it just automatically drops any items into that hopper, unless the hopper is full or the item...

Re: Unofficial Suggestions List

New Suggestion: The Dump Minecart We know that BDs will collect a storage minecart and that will spill its contents, but this is a lot of work to do for easy collection, therefore I propose the idea of a minecart that dumps its contents to the opposite side it recieves mechanical power from. Let me...

Re: Un-Offical Suggestions List

Interesting, but I'd say replace the redstone with a chest, then make it so you can store items in the boat as well. With the sail and all, it can move twice as fast, but it should still break if you hit something hard enough. Harder to break than a normal boat for sure, but not indestructible eith...

Re: Un-Offical Suggestions List

Well, I had the idea of a Sailboat almost IMMEDIATELY after seeing sails. Basically, Its a powered boat, and, it wont break when you hit something at full speed. I was thinking the recipe could go something like this: [blank][Sail][blank] [Redstone][Boat][Iron Ingot] [Iron Ingot][Iron Ingot][Iron I...
