Re: You sir are a genius!
I was just recently observing a discussion of some people talking about minecraft mods in general and describing what's lacking with them and what they'd like instead. I just kept reading like "guys, this was already done a while ago". I described it to someone as sitting around while ever...

Re: [Spoilers] BTW Tech Tree Visualization
The only mistake I noticed is that the priest requirements are switched with the librarian/scientist ones. That also changes the progression somewhat. You're right, that makes killing the wither a requirement before going to the end right? Pretty substantial oversight on my part. Will shift around....

Re: [SPOILERZ] Hardcore Villagers trading mechanics.
I'm really interested in why these villagers, once maxed out, want all these high-end BTW items. They don't give you very many emeralds for them (2 emerald for a buddy block for example) so it's not really worthwhile to farm them for resources. Is there something more complex here, like some change ...

Ha, no I made a similar thing prior to some big changes about 8 months ago. Since so much had changed I thought a new thread was in order.gaga654 wrote:Is anyone else having deja vu about the first two posts of this thread, or is it just me?

Re: [Spoilers] BTW Tech Tree Visualization
I think the best lesson to take from this is that the top of the BTW tech tree is the Compansion slab, and the stone button.
Edit - Good call. Added a legend in the top-right corner.

[Spoilers] BTW Tech Tree Visualization
A while back I made one of these but quite a bit has changed since then. This is a flowchart showing the process from spawn to the various ends of the BTW tech tree. Obviously it's full of spoilers. Check it out! Spoilered below is a large (on size and file size) image of the tech tree from my dropb...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.9 Marsupial?)
The grunts and the hunger bar vibration is a great change. Little details like that are what I love about BTW. I started a new world (after trying to figure out the new launcher) and the value of these was obvious. I immediately modified by too hectic action and survival was much easier than it was ...

Re: Mob traps: Mob filtering
I see no reason to separate out the mobs. Evering into a 3x2 wide area with water pushing against saw panel saw on the lower level, and panel saw panel above. Kills everything but endermen just fine.
You can also easily incorporate chopping blocks into that design to get the heads you want.

I always saw "nothing to worry about" cows as the primary avenue to automate collection of squid and bat drops. I haven't actually done it though. I'm surprised you both have a desire to automate farming of squids and you don't already have an excess amount of wheat. My design for a beef/l...

I know you're not asking for our opinions, but if you think that RTH will be a better experience single player only then that's the RTH I want. I've seen time and time again that your ideas for what would make a cool game are different from my own. And when I play your ideas I realize you were right...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )
Nah, you can learn the mechanics just fine in BTSM. In fact, I'd say it's even easier to learn them because your forced to actaully understand what the hell is going on before you're thrown into huge numbers of mechanics. For example, in vKSP you could come in blind and probably get something into s...

Notch on Facebook Acquisition of Occulus (of Occulus Rift)
I don't know if any of you have seen this, but apparently facebook just announced they've acquired the company making Occulus Rift, and Notch had been one of the top supporters for the Occulus Rift kickstarter:

Re: It's Finally Happened: I'm modding Civ 5
Yeah, that's pretty much what I want. So you think CanBuild is a query, not a command? I haven't modded ELI5 and there isn't really much documentation. But it takes a plot, and returns a boolean. To me that function reads as: Considering this unit, can it build on this plot this specific type of bu...

Re: It's Finally Happened: I'm modding Civ 5
Is it just that you want two separate functions be called if a condition is met? If so, from what I understand you can go with: if condition then functioncall() functioncall() end but it looks like CanBuild is not something that's set, it's something that's returned when you supply a type of build a...

Re: Mob Traps
Man, I really need to boost spider drops :P I've never really found spiders in my traps to be much of an issue, and I've never built to avoid them, so I'm not sure why people build traps to avoid them so often. I just do a big grid of platforms with vines between and a 2x2 or maybe 3x3 hold which e...

So I just got the wheels and I've been trying my best to come up with a spaceplane that will take off but I have no idea what to do. I don't have the jet engine, which I'm sure is important to this whole process but I can't seem to get anything to take off as is. Any hints on a wing/engine arrangeme...
