Re: How to make torchs?

Furnaces have become even more valuable in helping me explore a cave if I don't yet have enough torches. It does feel kinda exploity though so I've only actually used it the first time after I had the idea.

Re: Map Seeds

Seed: england (large biomes) You'll spawn in a taiga biome, but to the North-West it joins up with a desert and a plains biome (village included). Somewhere adjoining the northern edge of the taiga biome is a jungle with a temple. A stronghold is quite close (within a few 100 blocks). And apparently...

Stewing pot prioritises wool creation before elements.

When creating Elements in the Stewing Pot using String as one of the ingredients, Wool is the prioritised outcome over Elements.

To make elements using string as opposed to hemp fibres, you have to manually insert the string 3 at a time so that wool is not produced instead.

Re: Multiple linear turntable woes...

Thanks for the insights. I was finding it occasionally doing something slightly different from 'normal' too. I slowed the timing turntable down to half the speed which seems to have increased the reliability - perhaps because the timings aren't so finely tuned any more. Anyway, this means that my tu...

Re: Multiple linear turntable woes...

Apologies for another post so soon after the last, but I think I've possibly found the game mechanic that's creating the effect shown in the OP's picture. When the piston is pushing the clay at a certain offset (either only on even tick offsets or odd - not sure which, but it's one or the other) fro...

Re: Multiple linear turntable woes...

Well, it seems that de-powering the turntables all at the same time has no effect on the exact tick that they 'turn'. Also, having all turntables with the same number of gearboxes from the power source doesn't seem to lend itself to having clay pushed over it very well (no matter which relative tick...

I was beginning to wonder that myself, too. It seems a rather fiddly thing to overcome but I'm sure many must have found a way already?

Why oh why does this happen? (and please go easy on the scolding if the answer is obvious) http://i.imgur.com/9uM7n.png The clay blocks are being pushed from right to left, yet they don't seem to be spun evenly. The row of gear boxes just under the turn tables are all turned on at the same time (fro...

Re: How to wire a 3x3 floor of Hibachis?

I've posted this before in the useful builds thread but this is my design you might want to have a look at: http://i.imgur.com/tN3XG.png EDIT: It's a 3 long tilable design, shouldn't be too hard to work it out but just one note, the emerald block need direct power rather than indirect power. I actu...

Re: Seeking suggestions on how to dispense an exact amount.

[...] Specifically the 2nd item bit [...] When the torch behind the dispenser is on, it is 'half-powering' the dispenser. This makes it detect redstone updates in the surrounding blocks (a bit like the piston BUD switches) and dispenses an item each time this happens. So for the 2-item output, it d...

Re: Seeking suggestions on how to dispense an exact amount.

This might be a bit late for your use (if you've already built the relevant mechanisms) but this is how I dispense 1-8 items at once:

EDIT: For the upcoming button length changes (in the new snapshots), you just need to send a minimum 8-tick pulse to the top block.

Re: Multiplexing and splitting item streams:

When testing out normal dispensers in place of block dispensers in the op's design, it seems their shots tend more to the sides than with the BD. Not confirmed with enough test runs yet, though. If this helps reduce the number of items flowing down the middle of the stream, perhaps it would be feasi...

Use saws sideways on, in place of sidings. Items will still fall through (or should do, at least) but I don't think chickens will.

Re: Multiplexing and splitting item streams:

Nice design has given me lots of ideas. like having two types of item run down a single stream just on different side. You can do more than just two. I think you should be able to send 8 different item types down a stream and still be able to separate them all at the other end. However, two of the ...

Multiplexing and splitting item streams:

Rather than continue to derail a suggestion topic, I've moved my findings to here. I understand that an item stream (a water stream with multiples of the same item floating in it) can be split by alternating the directional flow of water in a timed pattern. I felt this was a slightly over-engineere...
