OpenGL off does not seem to help. With smooth lighting off the drops are 10-20 FPS drop instead of 40-50 FPS drop. It is a lot less noticeable.

Java and my video card drivers are updated. I use default when playing texture pack when playing. I close Steam and Skype, because those are resource hogs. Well UHC has helped Dinnerbone to balance the game a bit more. He nerfed health and regen potions,and he balanced hunger. Maybe its the beginning of extensive balancing. . . hopefully? Sadly, it will probably be a one time thing thats meant for all the people that play UHC.

From what I read it only spawns more when a player damages them. So it shouldn't affect mob traps, unless any kind of damage activates the spawn.
