Re: New to Warhammer 40K

I agree with FlowerChild on this one. But if you simply can't resist, I have one question for you: Imperial or Heretic?

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89667)

After spending the day with the kiln/baking changes, I am thoroughly impressed; that really was icing on the cake for kiln functionality. One more thing: I know I missed the boat by quite some time but I finally got around to building with Black Stone today and I'd like to say that the chiseled Blac...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89667)

Thank you!

Is anyone else planning to leave trails of bread (dough) crumbs around their world, now?

Also, in that same vein, the unfired clay bricks look like little stones! They'll make excellent pebbles to scatter around.

Re: Walls!

Contributing: I was really scratching my head over pallisades until I remembered: duh, what else am I doing with all these wooden columns? Now I've got a wooden/stone brick pallisade with packed earth path running the full perimeter of my castle with just enough room to expand. The walls are far fro...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.58)

Very exciting! I've got my keep fairly stabilized and I'm ready to start expanding into the hinterlands. I've got a breeding pair of villagers just waiting for the first wooden shack and pair o' diamonds.

Thank you!

Re: The potential of lighting

See TerraFirmaCraft's "spawn protection" which is based on the amount of time you spend in a chunk. Regardless of the light level, eventually, mobs stop spawning with the spawn protection. Obviously this would ruin mob traps but it's at least an example of a similar: time in area = safety ...

Re: The potential of lighting

What about torches as tools that cast light from the player, only? Think Don't Starve's limited durability torches that burn out in your hand over time. I know I've seen dynamic lights done by at least a couple mod-makers, AtomicStryker for one, so the precedent is set. Imagine starting a new world ...

Re: S tarting Over, again

On my most recent restart (6 months ago?) I started off building a 500-block road to the nearest plains biome where I set up camp. With my first two diamonds, I crafted a diamond hoe and set about planting the largest wheat field I could be bothered to care for with the hope that I would end up with...

Re: Don't Starve

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. The "hardcore" nature of the gameplay was really frustrating at first but now that I have a few effigies I feel much more at ease. Here's a shot of my plains basecamp at day 72. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8065/8220390265_393d8b7d4c_b.jpg One thing that...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.34)

I hopped into game last night for just a few minutes to check out the chopping block. I really like the texture and I really like the idea. At first I didn't quite understand how to get the damage bonus and I tried several configurations before I went to bed. Then, lying in the dark, it dawned on me...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of November 12th)

I'll echo that sentiment. One of my favorite parts of Terraria was building up well-refined/streamlined boss arenas. Am I correct in thinking that the beacon pyramid is the first time Mojang has ever added a mandatory structure to the game? I look forward to seeing how you tweak the beacon to better...

IGN: Beschaulichkeit

Re: BTW 4.31 spoiler thread

Well, after 3 nights of cartography/murder with my battleaxe, I'm sitting pretty on two skeleton heads, two zombie heads, and one creeper head. I can't attest to the "normal" rate, but 1-2 heads/night of hunting is what I'd expect from that "significant bonus".

After crafting a minimum zoom map and venturing deep into the nearest desert, I discovered that villages can, in fact, spawn without any farms whatsoever. So my root-hunt continues.
