Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
I may be a minority, but I really, really like the overwhelmingly huge oceans MineCraft has always had. They kinda remind me of, I dunno, real oceans? They also present a cool gameplay challenge, since once you set out on one of those oceans you never know how many days it'll be before you hit land ...

Re: XCOM: Enemy Within.
I am super-stoked about this expansion, I have to say. I'm glad they learned their lesson about Operation Slingshot being a horrible way to do X-COM DLC. Also really cool that it's still the same game, just expanded upon. Like an... I don't know... like an expansion... pack? ~trollface~

Re: Descent: Journey in the dark. Second Edition
My gaming group decided to stop playing this game as it was destroying friendships faster than Dokupon Kingdom and Mario Party put together. :P In all seriousness a very fun and well-designed game. May have to pick up the expansion packs at some point... if I can convince my friends to play with me....

Re: Easily install your mods with the MC Patcher
So, finally trying to update to the latest version (I've been several versions out of date for... quite a while...) and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get MCPatcher to work with the new launcher. What I've done: 1)Download new launcher (My first mistake, it seems...) 2)Copy 1.5.2 folde...

Re: Getting REALLY Frustrated
On the creeper thing: It is reasonably possible to build entrances to your base that no monster can navigate. For example, if you have to jump and catch a ladder to get into your base, you have already filtered out everything but spiders - which can then be filtered by their size. You can achieve th...

Re: John Dies at the End
Haven't gotten around to watching John Dies at the End yet, although I really, really want to. Both JDATE and This Book is Full of Spiders are at the top of my favorite books list.
Heard World War Z sucked, but it starred Brad Pitt so I knew that already.

Re: Here's an idea: stop posting ideas
Yeah, I'm particularly upset about that one.
Remember kids: Every time you post a suggestion, Flower Child drops one more potentially awesome idea into the "never" bin.
And then kills a kitten.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Ironically, it never occurred to me that mobs wouldn't be able to spawn on bushes, and so the obvious tactical difficulty of fighting mobs in the jungle has led to me avoiding them like the plague, especially with how easy it is to get lost in them. :)
Re: Warframe
Other frames may have cool abilities. But Excalibur has ~style~. :p
Re: Warframe
Ironically, I totally rocked single player when I started. That said, I had the advantage of Excalibur being the ~best frame ever~ (<--totally not biased). I can see how it would be frustrating if you didn't have slash dash to clear mobs. I actually find playing online kinda frustrating because of t...

Actually still kind of a cool (if risky) idea if for some reason you have limited space and need to use it efficiently.
Re: Warframe
Right now I'm repeatedly running Jackal for it, since he's pretty easy to solo if you know what you are doing. Kinda lame, though - I've killed him five times now and he's only dropped Polymer Bundles each time. >.< Still, I usually get anywhere from 20-80 alloy plate from drops during the mission. ...
Re: Warframe
Well that sounds cool. If you don't mind three more, I will suggest to my friend and my g/f that we all join up. I will add you as a contact next time I have a chance. Current progress update: I decided I want a sniper rifle. Unfortunately, I decided this AFTER they made it a blueprint. :( But I now...
Re: Warframe
What's up with the clan dojos? I don't really play MMO style games very often and I've never been in a clan with more than two members, so the whole clan thing is kinda new to me. xD In any case, I seem to be hooked, as is my g/f and another friend of ours, so I might take you up on that offer. I'm ...

Just started playing this with my g/f. Pretty fun, although very grindy. Good LORD infested missions are hard solo... stupid toxic giants...

Have the item fall on a block that is held up by a vertical sticky piston that is extended, then retract it when you need to clear the signal.milkmandan wrote:It's hard to clear an item from the string though to reset the signal.

I just block up every path save one with a wall with holes in it (which I only use for blocking paths I haven't explored), and then I take them one at a time.

Re: Skeleton, oh how I hate you! [Death Stories]
It says something awesome about the kind of game Flowerchild has created that losing more than enough gold to make a matched pair of solid gold, life sized statues of yourself is an "oops", but losing a handful of wheat seeds is a "NOOOO!" :) Also: Dave, I am totally stealing tha...

Also helpful is to fight skeletons at their own game. A bow is HUGELY important, as early game as you can get your hands on it, I've found.

Re: Peaceful Penalties? (Spoilers?)
I think what you are hearing about is the passive discouragement of peaceful, by tying almost the entire tech tree to resources dropped by mobs. I don't think peaceful has any active penalties, but off the top of my head you can't get diamond tools, cauldrons (and therefor anything requiring tanned ...
