Re: Concept for a cartography mod

I would like to post my idea here, but not sure if it's appropriate. As for your idea. I think it could nicely integrate into BTW (e.g. by using stakes as survey points) but on the other hand, if you play BTW there is no place where BTW would issue a message (i think that is one of most immersion br...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of October 8th)

i meant the http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/dev_single.html i liked that implementing all the "core" goals would give us version 1.0. But as I said it is very very long term and current version of DF does not look as good in game design perspective as current version of BTW. Some could a...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of October 8th)

<...>This last week I lost a few days to XCom addiction (well..."lost" isn't really the right word as that game was a real eye-opener in terms of masterful design, and such lessons inevitably find their way back into the mod), and now I'm deep in the guts of the next release and hesitant ...

Re: Hardcore grinding and beds!

Another hardcore suggestion: remove saplings from tree drops and replace them with "branch", branches don't magically grow into trees (you can't plant them normaly), first you need to plant them into planters and after some time they turn into saplings.

Re: Planetary Annihilation

Mention of Total Annihilation makes me happy and brings back lovely memories. (We had that game modded with almost no unit limit... oh good times... good times.) Mention of Spore makes me sad and reflective... (Fun, but so disappointing compared to what it should have been.) This game... looks awes...

Re: A note on sandbox games and playerdriven stories.

I totally agree with this kind of emergent play. Being a long-time dwarf fortress player what i miss is regional difficulty. That is choosing a place where it would be difficult to survive. I guess Big biomes would give that to some extent. Either way rebuilding due to random creepers, forgetting th...

Re: BTW: unpardonable sin(s)

I think the biggest sin of most users is the disease called "World restart syndrome" I just travel quite far from my usuall build/mine place if i want to restart. That way you can get some stuff that is boring to do from the start, have a clean landscape, can build without any "oh th...

Re: Finding the new Soulforged Steel Block property

As it is a "property" it might as well be that it allows redstone to carry over or triggers a block updates on some specific event.

Did you try using lens to shine on it (my world is very far behind after BTB death)? Or applying gratuitous amounts of placenta? Applying dung?
