I believe that there is a glitch in 1.3.2 that makes pistons facing certain ways (it was 2 out of the 4 facings, can't remember which) have that ridiculously strange behavior. Seriously, it's a game with many types of gameplay styles, but they still want to make it worse for one of them.

Even though I think that some of the new features will be good for adventure maps, I think that they make true good playing experience out of Minecraft worse than it was.
