If you want to get really crazy, build it on the border of a swamp and jungle biome!

"Out There" Space Rouge-Like mobile game

Hey guys, I came across this lovely game and thought this community might be interested. It's a space rogue like that's being compared to ftl. But it's more about resource management and exploration choices. It does not have combat. I've had a lot of fun with it! It's very driven by random events, s...

Re: Tips for Caving?

I personally deviate somewhat from the light up everything first approach that many are mentioning. I don't get much time to play btw, so I try to make the most of my time mining by doing it as quickly as possible without a lot of back and forth lighting up and blocking off sections before I mine. H...

Re: Viability of Lava Blade Mobtrap?

Way back in the day probably in alpha, I build a lava blade trap that filtered the spiders out before the lava due to their size. I used cactus to kill them. Of course, that also caused me to loose some of their drops but it solved some of the clogging problems I had.

IMHO it makes nether lush and alive. Let the groth and bushes spread :D Enjoy your lagtastic adventure... This is a rumor that needs to be squashed. Fc did some optimization stuff a long time ago if I remember right and for most hardware, leaves do not cause rendering lag or loading problems. If yo...

Re: Will 'o the Wisp

Just to be clear, so nobody goes running off to the bug reports, it's a vanilla issue that's about as old as time. In some cases fire doesn't "exitinguish" properly which leaves lighting issues and / or invisible fire. Placing a block where the bugged fire would be fixes it.

Re: New Player, Feeling like I'm missing something.

If you aren't already, make sure you're cooking everything. You get much more shanks (the hunger status bars) out of cooked food instead of raw. In addition to the above advice on conserving energy, consider returning to the same place to hole up at night. Holing up in multiple places means you're j...

Re: Freaking spiders. I need a plunger to fix this clog.

Um....color me noob or whatever, but why do you need string? I find I get enough for bows and fishing rods while wandering around...Am I missing something? I am only in the early game (pre-mob trap) and it'd be nice to know how useful string is before I get it built. Stakes. I use them for aestheti...

Re: Freaking spiders. I need a plunger to fix this clog.

I know you're intending to block spider spawns but if I were you I'd leave them in. String is useful. The solution to your problem with not killing them would be to put a second row of saws directly under the ones you have already. You're mistake was putting them one block further behind when you tr...

Re: fireworks as signals

I've considered setting up a launcher tied to a detector for scroll drops in my mob trap, but between wondering what the draw / sound distance was on the firework explosions and actually looking up the recipes, I decided not to bother. It would be a way to use up those stray mob heads though. LOL I...

Well had my first experience with hats yesterday! Finally allowed myself to take a peek at this thread. I got a pretty good shock after being grabbed from my shoreline and tossed into the bay. After being tossed around a bit I finally got enough hits on the 4 squid to regain my feet. I now know what...

Re: Maps

Vanilla 1.5 or 1.6 changed the way maps work so that they now align to a fixed grid and don't create centered on the player. Also Fc added a change some time ago so that maps will not fill in when something is between your player and the sky. It was a compromise to removing maps entirely since they'...

While I may be in love with her, no way in hell is marriage an actual thought in my mind yet, that shit scares me. Managing time spent on games or other interests is relevant to any level of relationship. It's like FC says with limited development time getting the most bang for the buck. Free time ...

Good luck! As a newly wed, I can say balancing personal interest time in a committed relationship is not easy. It's something that gets better as you go along if both people involved are committed to creating a new definition of what "normal" life looks like and that it's based on compromi...

Re: Is strip mining viable?

I don't strip mine early game per say, however early game you need cobble right? Why not gather it in a useful way? I dig a 2x2 tunnel down to the mid level strata and extend it in a single direction as i need cobble. Doing it at this level gives the added bonus of having some chance of exposing iro...

Wow nice work! It really does highlight the critical resource/tech constraints for moving on to the next level. I attempted something similar with the automation processes and their outputs in an effort to layout a factory that would do everything automatically, but that was some time ago. This is m...

Re: Lossless Chicken Farm?

The max length of time is 20 minutes I think. I know for sure it's longer than 10. How you want to approach this depends on your goals. If you want lossless with maximum egg production rates, then the only way I know how to do it is with individual pens for each chicken. If you have all the time in ...

Re: Lossless Chicken Farm?

As six said, detect the egg and trigger feeding only when an egg is detected. This is the only way I know to prevent losses other than to increase your timer excessively. Another benefit to using detection to feed, is you won't need a timer, and you guarantee that you're getting the maximum egg prod...
