Re: Spoilers for 4.3 explosives

Even better, carry some with you in anarchy play and people will stop trying to slap you with an axe after you blow up in their face a few times. Call yourself Jihad Joe. It even ends up being pronounced the same as the old cartoon's "Gee-eye Jooooooooe!" Damn, that'd actually be pretty f...

Re: Dungeons of Dredmor <3

I've been a big fan of spears combined with warlockery. Once you unlock the skill that procs a Puissant Touch every time you block, you just leave spear's defensive stance (which gives huge bonuses to block and counterattack at the cost of melee power) on pretty much all the time and stuff just dies...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of October 23rd)

I mentioned it back in my first interview, but the MC modding scene has always struck me as a bit of an oddity given the focus on having a shit-load of mods installed all at once. I don't know, this was how things worked in various roleplaying games (Baldur's Gate and other infinite engine mods, El...

Re: Dungeons of Dredmor <3

I actually started playing again now that people brought it to my attention again. Bought the two DLCs and it's a nice bit of fresh content to have fun with. Might have to look for an item rebalance mod, though... it looks like swords are the best weapons as far as stats go, saw a sword in a shop wi...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of October 23rd)

I say this because ML has remained at "pre-release" status for about 3 months now, and I haven't seen hide nor hair of news from Risugami during that period. I put no fault on Risugami for this whatsoever BTW. If I were in his shoes, I would be extremely dispirited by the whole FML thing,...

Re: Dungeons of Dredmor <3

I got bored once I beat it. I might play it again sometime. It's a very fun game and you can't beat it for the price. By beat it, do you just mean killing Lord Dredmor? I couldn't make myself stop there, the fun was always in trying out different builds for me Yeah. I didn't really find most of the...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.22)

-Added additional tests to ensure the mod has been properly installed and that crucial base-classes aren't being overwritten. I was getting pretty sick of the "the mod works fine with parts of it overwritten by other mods" tech support nonsense. Huzzah! So this should mean that any mod th...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of October 8th)

Meanwhile, I'm just chipping away at things one at a time slowly expanding the gameplay experience and trying to retain consistency throughout. It's this approach that, I feel, separates BTW the most from other mods of similar scope. I dabble with several other complex mods, but BTW is unique in th...

Re: Anyone playing Dustforce?

Spent about 10 minutes on it realizing it's not really a game designed to be played with a keyboard and stopped. The OST that came with the Humble Bundle is absolutely top-notch, though.

Re: PvP vs. PVE

Minecraft PvP's never held enough interest for me. Blandly clicking people until they die is too effective, making the need to set traps and whatnot considerably less useful. I think there's a great deal of potential, but no tools to make it work. It'd be interesting to have a server where once a we...

Re: Crusader Kings 2 on sale on Steam

Never heard of it... Is it really good? I've heard that it is. Grand medieval strategy focusing on the personal, political, and lineage aspects. Sounds right up my alley. Yep. There's a lot to grasp and the tutorial system is setup in a way that makes it hard to follow (the tutorials don't have any...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

I think mojang's lack of experience in handling big projects is starting to become a problem.. It does seem like they're lacking direction, judging from several of their changes in both upcoming updates and previous updates. I expect once they release their unified API, everyone except the modders ...

Re: New User, His Map, His Texture Pack

Jesus christ man, that's some impressive work. And you did this all in survival ? Did you have to use a flying mod to do those towers and temples? Tell me you didn't build them from the ground up in layers like a damn printer. I definitely like the texturepack. John Smith's always been one of my fa...

Re: On a 1 to 30, where do you want the tech-tree to end?

Ok, between this, and between using the "What sold you on BTW?" thread as an advertisement for another mod, consider this a warning that you may want to use the mod a bit more and consider which section you are posting in before posting further. I wasn't attempting to advertise a differen...

Re: On a 1 to 30, where do you want the tech-tree to end?

The idea of creating temples where you can sacrifice enshrine companion cubes is hilarious. Maybe it could be a different way of collecting souls without requiring soul sand!

Re: What's the one thing that "sold" you on BTW?

Mixture of things but mostly because BTW doesn't really break the Minecraft aesthetic; it feels "natural." I've never even bothered trying BuildCraft or IndustrialCraft because while I like some of the concepts (I especially like the idea of finding oil reserves, refining that oil, and the...

Re: On a 1 to 30, where do you want the tech-tree to end?

I like the idea of being able to farm my chickens with a flak cannon and shooting creepers with a shock rifle. Beyond that? I think the whole dimension-hopping concept (assuming we can define the nether and the end as being separate dimensions from the overworld) hasn't really been explored well wit...
