Re: Thinking about Digging in BTW (where are mining charges?)
Wonderful post, this is really informative. It seems you have way more experience with endgame construction than I do. Thanks, glad to be of help. Endgame construction and automation has indeed always been my main draw to BTW. The years of focusing on early game updates are probably the reason I st...

Re: Thinking about Digging in BTW (where are mining charges?)
TLDR: I think we need to either give players earlier access to high efficiency picks or make mining charges accessible again. Since explosives are really fucking cool, I think the latter is the better option. I spent hundreds of hours making a proper silverfish breeding farm back in the day, so I k...

Trading for Soulforge? (Spoilers)
This was in the patch notes, but the wiki is outdated and I'm wondering which villager trades this at what level. I'm having really brutal time trading up towards Eyes of Ender and wanted to start some automation projects while working on that front, and this is the only way to get Block Dispensers ...

Re: (Potential Spoilers?) - Opinions On First Iron Tool
Personally, I still go with pick. Once you have it, finding another 18 iron is pretty easy since you can mine out old veins where you simply scratched the surface, whereas an axe requires you to find 27 iron ore from completely new sources. I'd rather put up with baskets, inefficient wood usage and...

Re: Version 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH Spoilers in Spoilers
Hit a brick wall with kilns. Pun intended. I cannot figure out how to make free floating bricks in the new release. They can be made with hardcore packing, but that requires a piston, which requires a a kiln to make the Soul Urn. I'm stuck needing a thing so I can make a thing to make the thing I ne...

Re: The Feature Request / Suggestion Thread - LIMITED TIME O
I have but one feature request: some late game way of mob farming, synthesizing or stretching my Lapis Lazuli reserves. Preferably in some manner that provides a new and interesting late game build, but I'm not picky. As someone who does a lot of mining and for large Redstone projects, I find this t...

Silverfish breeding feels too slow and promotes bad gameplay
It seems like end game progression updates are on menu again, so I thought I'd try to bring up something that has been bothering me for a while. As things are, Silverfish farms promote a lot of bad behavior from players. The obvious one is the large incentive to just spend a lot of time afk. When ta...

Re: Silverfish Farm Questions
Okay, after a week of play and countless hours of frustration, I feel I know enough about silverfish to post. To try to answer some questions: Distance does not appear to affect breeding, and being too far appears to make silverfish despawn. You should try to remain close to your system. I found saw...

Re: Your biggest accidental blunder
snip Oh man, that is pretty much nightmare fuel for me right there. I'm fairly certain I would change my name and move after that. I do not handle accidental airing of dirty laundry well. I can't even handle scenes like that in movies. I literally sometimes leave the room. As for me, it's not reall...

Hmm, damn. I started a new world just before this update and self limited myself to making charcoal in the kiln, but didn't anticipate the less torches per coal. But I will say I /love/ charcoal being tied to the tech tree. Charcoal was something I actually always hated and tried not to use, but thi...

Re: Poop tower food wastage
Hmm, this may be related to a problem I was having with my cow breeding tower, which I /might/ know what is causing it. I had refrained from posting about it because I'm a few BTW updates behind, so the information may have been irrelevant, but they sound the same. It appears that stacks of items de...

Hmm... I'm not usually one to read into things, but these three tweets from cpw seem to be a little obvious in their underlying meaning. Pride does strange things sometimes. In other news it would be a sad loss for mc modding, if true.. MC modding is changing, permanently. Wishing hard that wouldn't...

Team Fortress 2. All day erryday. Because there's no matchmaking it's easy to find servers around your skill level, while sti...

Re: Personally Satisfying Aspects of BTW?
To me, assembling the engine out of parts is way cooler than buying it pre-assembled, and in a game that provides you the freedom to do so, then I think that the more stuff you construct yourself, the cooler and more satisfying it is when you complete a project. Coincidentally, one of the first thi...

Good post. You've given me something new to think about. Heh, it's embarrassing how pleased I am by this. I guess I really am just a fanboy at heart. To be honest though I actually thought this was an intended design decision. These emergent, dynamic solutions to problems just seem so quintessentia...

Re: Personally Satisfying Aspects of BTW?
For me it's building the absolute most compact device I can come up with. It borders on fetishistic. I'll get a working version of a machine made in about ten minutes. Then I'll spend hours redesigning, refining and compacting it until my brain is overworked and I have to sleep. Then I'll come back ...

Re: Better With 'Gators [Discussion]
Potions may be cheap yes, but Gator armour has the advantage of not wearing off. However, to compensate, Gator armour requires a whole Soul Urn per piece. What I meant to imply is that getting the leather enchants would be too easy, not that potions are a better option. I for one rarely carry them ...

Re: Better With 'Gators [Discussion]
Huh, potion-soaked armor. I really like it as a concept, but I think with the current state of potions it would be a little clunky. For one, potions are really inexpensive and relatively easy to require compared to most BTW tech. They can't be auto crafted, so the production of them is really tediou...

Re: Can't sleep
Heh, curious if anyone else has ever noticed this, but I find most people do two things when you tell them you can't sleep: - Suggest the 'easy' or 'simple' way that they use to fall asleep - Get annoyed that you've managed to fail a simple lesson everyone learns as a child It happened just this mor...
