Re: To Troubled To sleep.
I think Steve can't sleep because the overworld is actually a dream itself. That's why it doesn't make sense in many ways. He can't sleep because symbolically it represents the state he is already in. It's a reminder of the unreality of his current reality. Perhaps it is subconsciously, rather than ...

Help regarding kiln, pottery collection, and hopper burning
I've been working on a kiln/pottery setup in my wizard's tower for a bit now and found myself with a bit of a dilemma. I'm attempting to make it without using water and had it setup something as follows. A block dispenser receives unfired pottery from a hopper above it, then the block dispenser spit...

Re: Building my first major mob trap
*nods* Thank you for the helpful advice. Ok then I'll aim at ignoring the endermen aspect and just build a specialized one for them in the end.
One issue I heard of though was that at a certain distance from the player mobs simply freeze in place, does that effect need to be accounted for?

Building my first major mob trap
I'm trying to plan out making my first mob trap in minecraft, and I'm a bit wary about starting it and could use some help/suggestions about what to do and what to be aware of. Even though I've been playing MC since Alpha I largely haven't built many mob traps (except a few around dungeons), and I a...

Duplicate Piston Heads
When making a reed farm I found that if I have 2 rows of pistons (non-sticky) that the upper row ends up retracting back, but also leaving a duplicate solid extended head portion as well. I can break the duplicate head off and the piston remains intact. However once they extend again and then retrac...

Re: Design Discussion: The Nuking of maps
I myself lean toward actually urging you to remove maps. This is kinda surprising (to me even) since for a long time I've often been resistant to loss of options in BTW. I don't use maps as a player, preferring to memorize the lay of the land, and using landmarks and compass. I've dabbled a bit in t...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of October 23rd)
Heh. Cistern does seem a fitting name for it, though I've always read about cisterns being used as a means of collecting rain water? That would be kinda neat to go and add a room to one's base to use it like a historical style actual cistern to a castle and it actually fill up by catching rainwater ...

I just have to say I have a lot of respect for you FC, especially now when you move to make those difficult decisions like with what is going on with ML. I appreciate the challenge you're facing here and wanted to add in my words of support too. I myself have worked on smaller mods in the past for o...

Re: Creeping FPS Loss
Additionally I tried both increasing and decreasing the amount of RAM Java used with minecraft (at one point allocating all 6000+ memory to it) neither attempt improved the fps at all. : /

Ok I found my card which is: Graphics Card: Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset Will ATI Catalyst (I'm assuming this is a seperate program) help in this case. Re: Creeping FPS Loss
If you are getting minecraft hangs and freezes frequently, that's more than likely a problem outside of mine craft. I would start by completely uninstalling java and reinstalling 64bit java from a new download. I'm not so sure. This has happened with minecraft before in the past as a bug listed on ...

Re: Creeping FPS Loss
Ok....another clue to my issues...maybe... I created a new world using creative mode to look about and spawned in taiga biome. This biome ususally causes me to lag badly when I spawn in one. I turned on F3 and saw my fps hover at 4 fps. :/ What's weirder is, up in the corner the Memory Used (approx ...

Re: Creeping FPS Loss
Some additional stuff:
I'm currently using the latest BTW. So as far as I know Optifine won't work with it (as the Optifine thread looks like it ends at an earlier version of BTW).
I'm also deleting my bin and doing a fresh install to see if that helps as well.

Creeping FPS Loss
The issue I'm facing right now is a fps drop that I'm unsure of the source or how to fix. The issue isn't immediate, but after playing for a while fps keep dropping to a lower rate while I'm in my base. Normally I might range in the 20 fps or as low as 15 fps or so. But after playing for a while the...

Re: Aeslynn Winterfell's Better Than Wolves Let's Play
There's a post in the Tech Support section for making Optifine (somewhat) compatible with BTW while keeping BTW's properties intact. Minecraft will normally run on only one core without Optifine which can severely reduce your computer's performance while running it. I looked at that...but as far as...

Thanks for the encouragement I really appreciate it! :D you might want to adjust the volume of your game to be a bit more quiet so that we can hear your voice better. *nods* I'll keep that in mind. :D which recording program do you use ? My feelings are also similar to others voiced in this thread. Indeed, I really have to thank you for all your hard work as you've really inspired me. You really got me thinking not only about game design, but also what makes a game "tick" and what makes a game "sell" to its audie...
