Version 1.0: More Information or Less?

Regarding including more information for Version 1.0: Throughout the change log, FC has included recipes, descriptions, asides, and rationales. It's not out of character for the initial post to include all of this info. Ideally, you'd be able to read through the log and, by piling revision upon revision, be able to reconstruct the tech tree. You can't do that if you don't have all the information at the start. I propose that the revision revert to the full content of FC's original post. I'm not sure how more information can't possibly be more useful than less.MattW (talk) 14:24, 9 June 2014 (MDT)

The info you are talking about is the kind of info FlowerChild would add to the original post of the Minecraft forums
When adding new items to the changelog, he would write Added Nethercoal item or Added the Detector Block. Hence Added Hibachi and Added Lightblock is what the release version would look like if he included it in the changelog
He really only went into specific detail with changes to existing items, blocks etc. He was documenting bug fixes and content changes. The new descriptions and rationales were added to the original post
This page is a changelog, not the original post. Since most of FlowerChilds changes were in order of the tech tree you already can do what you want just by following hyperlinks
If you want a updated original post on this wiki, create a page for it. MrShifty on the MCF combined the outdated original post with error fixes I posted to create a error free original post

Mind you FlowerChild said he is going to do a significant rewrite one he finishes BTW and only FlowerChild knows the level of spoilers he would want on the original post

Amusingly enough, MrShifty and I are one and the same person:) I really really appreciated your going through that post and updating it. It seemed like it must have been quite a bit of work, and I wanted it to be made permanent in some format.
Wanted to point out that FC typically has pretty lengthy descriptions of new blocks when he adds them. For example, check out the change log note for the addition of Redstone Latches, which were introduced in Version 4.891. It includes a full description of the recipe, the rationales for creating it, and hints about how it's intended to be used. FC's change logs (this one and the one for BTSM) are, to me, shining examples of what a change log should be: detailed, readable, and exhaustive. The only (minor) issue with them is that they don't include descriptions of the initial release versions. I was trying to rectify that.MattW (talk) 23:03, 9 June 2014 (MDT)
After reading through the changelog, its apparent that FlowerChild changed the style of his changelog somewhere in 4.xx versions. I have a theory that this is when he stopped updating the MCF original post, but can't offer evidence to this because as until recently I stopped paying attention to this mod. So you are right that modifying the 1.0 version entry in that manner would be consistent with the 4.x changelog entries. It would not be consistent with the 1.x-3.x changelog entries. Now the 1.x-3.x changelogs could be edited to be consistent with the 4.x changelog entries, but that isn't the current policy of this wiki (which is basically to copy paste the entry from the changelog to the wiki with minor edits such as formatting, fixing spelling mistakes, and updating names that have changed since beta. Most of the added notes were related to changes that were made to future versions, such as when blocks were renamed or replaced. There are exceptions such as found undocumented features or mentioning when parts of changelog are jokes made by FlowerChild).
Given that wiki policy should be tailored to its users, how about we leave it this way unless people make it clear that they want the 1.x-3.x changelogs to be changed to be consistent with the 4.x changelogs. Palisight (talk) 05:55, 10 June 2014 (MDT)
Fair enough. I'll leave it as it is, just add one bullet mentioning that minecart pressure plate blocks were included in the initial release (even though they were subsequently removed.)MattW (talk) 08:35, 10 June 2014 (MDT)
