The Pulley represents a means of converting mechanical power into vertical motion. It has an inventory into which up to 256 (4 stacks) of Rope may be placed and, if left unpowered, the Pulley will slowly dispense this rope downward until it either exhausts its inventory or the rope lands on something solid. Conversely, when a Pulley is powered mechanically it begins to retract the rope back into its inventory thereby raising any upward-facing Anchor to which the rope is attached. This, in turn, raises any appropriately connected Platforms.

If a [[[redstone]] signal is applied to a Pulley, any rope motion is immediately halted until the signal is cut. This brake mechanism combined with the ability to reverse rope direction allows for the creation of functional elevators.

Applications

A few possible uses of the pulley include:

  • elevators
  • water gates
  • vertical item transport
  • various traps

Keep in Mind

  • it can only lift Platforms in a 5x5x5 area around the Anchor
  • it can only lift Platforms and Anchors but rails and redstone may be placed on a platform and will be moved with it.
  • it can only be powered from the sides
