Uses
Buckets can be filled with Water (by scooping water in the world), Milk (by right clicking a Cow with a full udder) or Cement (by crafting). Picking up water does not remove water sources, nor does emptying them create new source blocks, however they do create temporary flows that are capable of extinguishing lava and fire that cannot be picked up again. This can be vital for securing deep underground caverns and creating Obsidian.
Milk buckets are used to create Cakes and Chocolate Milk, and can also instantly remove most potion-related or poison status effects. Cement buckets are used to create large Smooth Stone surfaces quickly.
Lava is too hot to scoop with a bucket and will cause damage to all foolish enough to attempt it.
In previous versions before Version_4.B0000001 all buckets could also be placed on the ground by holding shift and right-clicking. Flowerchild plans on reworking this system so for the time being all buckets may still be placed via Block Dispensers. Placed buckets may be tipped over if pushed by a piston, releasing their contents if any.
